Pedestrian 'critical' after collision in Cornish village

Police have released more details about a collision on the edge of a Cornish village that has left a man fighting for his life.

The pedestrian was airlifted to Derriford after it happened at Four Lanes on Wednesday.

The casualty in his 40s suffered injuries to his legs, body and head and remains in a critical condition.

Anyone who saw something just before 10.30pm is being urged to come forward.

"Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision near Four Lanes on Wednesday night.

"The incident happened at around 10.20pm on Andrews Terrace, Four Lanes, Redruth.

"A Seat was travelling in the direction of Four Lanes when it was in collision with a male pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, sustained injuries to his legs body and head.

"He was taken to Derriford hospital by Air Ambulance where he remains in a critical condition. His next of kin are aware.

"The road was closed for over 4 hours whilst emergency services attended the scene".
