Overnight fire engulfs building near Penryn

An investigation is starting into a late-night blaze that tore through a building near Penryn.

Firefighters were scrambled to Lower Treluswell after a string of calls to the control room.

They arrived just before midnight on Saturday to find a two-storey property well alight.

Crews from Falmouth wore breathing masks to go inside, before using jets to douse the flames.

"Fire Control received several emergency calls to a property fire in Lower Treluswell, Penryn. 

"Two fire appliances from Falmouth Community Fire Station and a fire officer were mobilised to the incident. 

"On arrival, they found a two-storey dwelling to be well alight and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building.

"The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera, and positive ventilation fan was also used at the incident.

"A fire investigation is to take place in daylight hours".
