Woman's body discovered on beach in Cornwall

Police have confirmed a woman has died after a body was found on a popular Cornish beach.

Officers and Coastguard crews were scrambled to Perranporth after a member of the public raised the alarm.

The discovery was made at Droskyn Point just before 10.30am on Saturday and enquiries are ongoing.

However, Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed they are not treating the death as suspicious.

"Police attended Droskyn Point, Perranporth, on Saturday morning at 1020 hours after members of the public found the body of a female on the beach.

"Other emergency services also attended the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident although it is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

"Anyone with any information is requested to ring 101 quoting incident 281 290918".
