Visitors have told Pirate FM staff rushed to get extinguishers from some of the other rides to douse the flames.

They were ushering people away before firefighters turned up, but there are no reports of anyone being hurt.

One listener, who wanted to remain anonymous, said the ride had been cordoned off.

"Fair workers ran to other rides to grab extinguishers to go and deal with the flames as others ushered people away, that's how I noticed what was happening.

"Firefighters have arrived now. The ride is cordoned off but the staff seem pretty relaxed now".

Pirate FM has contacted the operators, Rowlands FunFair, for a statement.
