WATCH: The heartwarming moment this tangled seal was freed

This was the heartwarming moment a seal tangled in netting off the coast of Cornwall was finally freed.

Lucky Star was first was spotted off the north coast back in May, but was scared off before he could be rescued.

Several more sightings followed, including one over the August bank holiday, but again he could not be caught.

Conservationists launched the desperate appeal to find Lucky Star, amid fears he would not survive without being cut free.

On Tuesday, almost five months since the original sighting, Lucky Star was released back into the wild.

Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust shared the news on its Facebook page, after the appeal to find Lucky Star went viral.

"We finally GOT HIM! After 4 months of searching Lucky Star is freed! PHEW and GOOD LUCK little one!

"Please thank everyone who has played a part in this huge success story by sharing".

"Thanks to everyone who looked out for and reported sightings of this seal.

"It took a while but we got it in the end!"
