UPDATE: Pedestrian airlifted to hospital after crash

A pedestrian has been airlifted to hospital after a car hit a house in Wadebridge.

Emergency services were scrambled to Southern Way on Tuesday morning.

The air ambulance is taking an elderly man to Derriford with potentially life-threatening injuries.

The driver was cut free from the car and is being treated by paramedics at the scene.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours but has now re-opened.

"Police were called at around 11:25am with reports of a Honda Saloon having collided with a property on Southern Way, Wadebridge - it is also believed that a pedestrian was struck by the car.

"Emergency services including fire and ambulance all in attendance.

"The driver, a man in his 70's of the vehicle was initially trapped, but has since been freed.

"He is still being treated at the scene but his injuries are not currently thought to be life-threatening.

"The pedestrian, an elderly man is being treated for serious, possibly life-threatening injuries and is being airlifted to Derriford Hospital.

"Localised closures are in place whilst emergency services tend to this incident."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting log number 295 for the 9th of October.

"Two fire appliances from Wadebridge and the rescue tender from Bodmin attended a road traffic collision, where a car had collided with a house.

"A casualty has been released from the vehicle and a further casualty was left in care of ambulance.

"Firefighters assisted further by making the scene safe.

"A structural engineer has been requested to assess the house."
