Elderly man who died after crash in Wadebridge named

Police have named the elderly pedestrian who died after a car hit a house in Wadebridge.

80-year-old Graham Brinsden was airlifted to Derriford after the collision last Tuesday.

He suffered serious injuries following the incident on Southern Way but, tragically, could not be saved.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw something just before 11.30am to come forward.

"A man who died following a collision in Wadebridge has now been named.

"Police were called at around 11:25am on Tuesday 9th October with reports of a Honda Jazz in collision with a pedestrian.

"The vehicle had continued over the pavement and collided with the gable end of a house, causing extensive damage on Southern Way, Wadebridge.

"Emergency services, including fire and ambulance were all in attendance.

"Graham Brinsden, an 80-year-old pedestrian, was airlifted to Derriford Hospital having sustained critical injuries; he later died in hospital on Wednesday 10th October.

"The driver, a 77-year-old man was initially trapped, but later freed. He was taken to Treliske Hospital but his injuries were not thought to be serious.

"Localised closures were in place whilst emergency services tended to this incident".

Local officers as well as Officers from the Roads Policing Team, and Serious Collision Investigation Team attended the scene.
