A man who has been at the centre of a rooftop stand-off in Truro... is now on a different roof.

The man, dressed in cycling gear and a helmet, had been on the rooftop in the city centre for around 24 hours.

Now it appears he has got down - but made his way onto another building.

Police say he has been hurling tiles and negotiators are still at the scene.

The area around George Street remains in lockdown and some residents have been evacuated from their homes.

Officers are still trying to find a safe resolution.

"Officers remain at an address on George Street, Truro. Officers were called to the scene yesterday morning following concerns for the welfare of a man in his 40s who is on the roof of a property.

“Tiles have been thrown and substantial damaged caused to the roof and residents affected rehomed; localised closures and cordons are in the area for the safety of the public.

“Emergency services including police negotiators are at the scene and are working towards a peaceful resolution.

“We appreciate that this has become a long and drawn out affair and we are doing all we can to ensure a peaceful outcome to this incident.

"We are grateful of the support shown from the public but we do ask that we are given the space to allow us to work with this man and to bring him into our care".
