Arson suspected after bungalow fire in Cornish village

Police are investigating a fire that tore through a bungalow in a Cornish village.

A property in the Breague area has been cordoned off and an officer has been posted to guard the scene.

Firefighters from Helston, Tolvaddon, Hayle, Falmouth and St Just were scrambled on Thursday night.

A neighbour rang 999 to report smoke and loud bangs, but crews have confirmed no-one was inside.

"Fire have informed police that they attended a fire to an unoccupied bungalow in, Carleen Breage, Helston.

"Fire have stated that at this stage they are treating it as suspicious, therefore a scene guard has been put in place.

"Scenes of crime are due to meet fire Investigators today to progress this matter".
