We have all seen stunning photos of sunsets, crystal clear waters and stormy seas in Cornwall... but how often do we appreciate the Duchy at night?

The landscape makes it easy to love Kernow - it is one of the reasons why we are lucky to live here.

And just in case you had not realised, Cornwall is equally as beautiful and breathtaking at night.

Here are 10 striking snaps of the Duchy under the stars...

1. Truro

It is a nightmare to shoot in low light - the photo never does the view justice. A couple of handy tips to avoid blurry and dark pictures if you are on a smart phone are:

  • Keep the camera as still as possible. If you find your hands are shaking, tuck your elbows in!
  • Play with the brightness on your phone. It will adjust the light exposure and increase your shutter speed.

2. River Fal

Witnessing an epic lightning strike with your eyes can sometimes be a blur, let alone on camera!

3. Porthgwarra Cove

Josef Fitzgerald-Patrick recently won this years Young Landscape Photographer of the Year. It is easy to see why when you see this shot...

4. Kit Hill, Callington

Well, you could not argue this is Cornwall...

5. Rame Head

6. Portwrinkle Harbour

How tranquil is the water?

These line of rocks protruded from Portwrinkle harbour which I presume used to be part of an old harbour. I like leading lines, especially when they lead to interesting parts of the night sky, which seemed to work nicely for this scene. The forecast is suggesting some clear skies for tomorrow night, so hopefully an opportunity to venue out again. I am thinking Dartmoor this time, with possibly some moonlit nights scapes around Trenchford Reservoir. Please let me know what you think, and feel free to share or comment. =============================== #portwrinkle #cornwall #night #cornwallatnight #ukastrophtography #nightskiesarethebest #leadinglines #liveforthestory #visitengland #cornwallnight #uknight #ukstarryskies #nightseascape #night_shooterz #addicted_to_nights #southwestisbest #nightskiesuk #kernow #ifollowcornwall

There is just something about the night sky, do you not think?

8. Land's End

What a shot!

9. St Agnes

Making a wish on a shooting star we see in a photo is allowed right?
