'Man airlifted' after a crash in south east Cornwall

Pirate FM understands a man has been airlifted to hospital after a crash in south-east Cornwall.

Firefighters have confirmed one person had to be cut free at West Taphouse on Sunday.

Other casualties were treated at the scene after three vehicles were caught in the collision on the A390.

Police were also scrambled at around 3.30pm and the road was shut for several hours.

"Police were called at 3:35pm on 21st October to a two car collision on the A390 just past West Taphouse, Lostwithiel.

"Fire and ambulance also attended.

"A man in his 40s was trapped in one of the vehicles and then airlifted to Derriford Hospital. He sustained a serious leg injury and the two occupants of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.

"The road was closed and then reopened at 8:25pm."

Devon and Cornwall Police

"On receipt of this call, one appliance and the rescue tender from Bodmin were mobilised.

"On arrival, crews found three vehicles involved.

"One person was released using crash rescue equipment. Further casualties were treated at the scene by attending ambulance crews.

The road was closed and Devon and Cornwall Police were also in attendance".
