Man dies after crash on country lane in Cornwall

An elderly man has lost his life after a crash on a Cornish country lane.

Police say the 82-year-old from Redruth when a car came off the road and hit a hedge near Stithians.

The collision happened on Tuesday afternoon, shutting a stretch of Tresavern Hill for several hours.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw something around 3pm to come forward.

"Police were called just after 3pm on Tuesday 6th November following reports of a Ford Fiesta having left the road on Tresavern hill, Stithians.

"The car came to a stop in a hedge and the sole occupant, an 82-year-old man from Redruth, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Next of kin have been made aware, but formal identification has yet to have taken place".

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact the Police on 101@dc.police.uk, quoting log number 532 for the 6th November.
