It is understood one person has been taken to hospital after a serious crash on Cornwall's A38.

The air ambulance was scrambled early on Thursday evening, after three vehicles collided near Liskeard.

It happened just after the junction for Menheniot during the evening rush-hour, shutting the road in both directions.

The westbound carriageway did not reopen until around 10pm.

"Critical Control received reports of a road traffic collision with persons trapped.

"Fire crews from Liskeard and Bodmin Community Fire Station and an officer were mobilised to the scene.

"On their arrival, it was found that there were no persons trapped.

"Firefighters assisted Police and Ambulance who were also on scene with casualty care and making the scene safe".
