This is Battz - the german shepherd who died after eating sausages laced with rat poison found in his back garden in Cornwall.

Battz's heartbroken owner, who lives in Penwithick, St Austell, says her pet wolfed down the meat.

Kim has told Pirate FM that vets said he swallowed enough of the deadly toxin to kill an elephant.

The heartbroken owner of a dog who died after eating meat laced with rat poison in Cornwall has issued a warning to others.

Kim has told Pirate FM that she believes her pet was targeted deliberately, out of jealousy.

"I think it was someone jealous of him. He was a cuddle monster, he wanted cuddles basically from everyone who came through the door and he was just so loving I don't understand how anybody could have done this to him.

"I just want everyone to be aware that there are nasty people out there".

Kim says that the police are involved but she just wants other pet owners to be extra careful.

"He was my soulmate he was the one that got me up in the morning got me up and going and now I'm left here with absolutely nothing at all.

"I basically don't want anyone else to lose their soulmate like I've lost mine".

Owner, Kim

Kim has told Pirate FM that she has not been given a crime reference number from the police.

Pirate FM has contacted Devon and Cornwall Police, who say they have no record of an active investigation but that it may have been picked up by the local policing team.
