A car has aquaplaned and flipped onto its roof in a wet weather crash on Cornwall's A30.

The vehicle came off the road in heavy surface water near Launceston on Thursday afternoon.

Police have confirmed a man suffered a minor injury at around 4.30pm and a stretch of the road was shut.

"Police were called just after 4pm with reports of a vehicle having aquaplaned and leaving the carriageway, becoming stationary on its roof, on the A30 near Launceston.

"Occupants of the BMW are out of the vehicle and one man has a minor injury.

"Closures are in place as emergency services work at the scene".

The eastbound carriageway was shut to allow emergency services to clear the scene.

It has since reopened but Inrix Traffic and Travel says the road remains blocked.

"A30 Eastbound partially blocked, heavy traffic due to overturned vehicle from A388 Tavistock Road (Callington turn off, Stourscombe) to A388 (Polson/Lifton Down turn off, Liftondown).

"The road was briefly closed to attend to the vehicle".
