This is the scene in St Austell where a man was on the roof of a block of flats for over five hours.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were all at the scene of the only tower block in Cornwall.

The area around the Park House flats was cordoned off at around 1pm on Monday.

Officers have since confirmed the incident was resolved safely and a man has been detained.

"There is a man on the roof of the flats, he is cursing a swearing and seems to be irate.

"He is throwing tiles and whatever he can find off the roof and down below.

"They have cordoned off the area so no one can walk or drive round the roads.

" I went out for lunch to the Co-op here and got told by the police I wasn't allowed to go down the road.

"And he has been up there ever since."
