There are reports of flooding on the roads as downpours spark a 36 hour weather warning for Cornwall.

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for bands of heavy rain, that is out until 6pm on Saturday.

How will the weather affect my journey?

Inrix Traffic and Travel is reporting flooding near Torpoint, partially blocking the A374 Antony Road.

The B3413 in Plymouth is also partially blocked due to flooding, near the Forder Valley Interchange.

Police have tweeted a warning to drivers on the A38 too - check the latest traffic and travel here.

What can we expect?

  • Bands of heavy, thundery showers will bring a chance of flooding in the south-west England on Friday and Saturday
  • Flooding of a few homes and business is likely
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer

"Bands of heavy, at times thundery, showers are expected to affect parts of south-west England from Friday morning until later on Saturday.

"Whilst most areas will see a rather wet spell, not everywhere will see the heaviest downpours.

"Where they do occur, 20-40mm may fall in 6-12 hours, with perhaps around 50mm falling in 24 hours - most likely across south-east-facing coasts and moors of Devon and Cornwall. Showers may also contain small hail at times".
