This is the moment a lorry overturned after a crash on the A38 near Plymouth, causing four-mile tailbacks.

The collision on The Parkway has badly damaged the nearside barrier and collapsed a sign.

Lane closures were in force across rush-hour on Friday morning.

A weather warning for heavy rain is out until Saturday evening and police have tweeted a safety message to drivers.

Recovery crews have spent the morning clearing sand from the verge, after it spilled from the HGV.

Highways England had to block the carriageway to recover the vehicle, causing more delays.

At 12.30pm on Friday, Highways England confirmed that the main carriageway had re-opened.

"The HGV is now back on its wheels and traffic has been released. All lanes remain open on the main carriageway, however the dedicated exit slip for the A374 remains partially obstructed. Minor delays on approach".
