Christmas shopping can prove a bit of a nightmare when you end up traipsing round for the perfect gift but you have to jog back to the car park to avoid an overstay fine.

Well, Cornwall Council is making the festive period a bit easier by offering free parking in their car parks.

Liskeard, Hayle and Camborne are offering free parking in council owned car parks every Saturday before the big day, to encourage people to shop locally.

β€œWe’re proud to support our local economies by offering free parking in the busy build-up to Christmas.

Not only does this mean people can take their time shopping, it also means people can spend more time in cafes and restaurants.

"You don’t get that experience shopping online.”

Adam Paynter, Council Leader
