We know we are already a couple of days into December but Pirate FM has put together an Advent Calendar of Christmas movies, for if you had to watch one every day! (Binge-watch to catch up?)

We have got 24 films that we think are some of the best, but do you think any are missing?

Love Actually

Did you know? There have been three 'remakes' of the film around the world, "A Tribute To Love", "Letters to St Nicholas" and "It All Began When I Met You".

Arthur Christmas

Did you know? There's a bit of a mistake when they deliver the presents to Denmark on Christmas Day; they're supposed to get theirs on the 24th.

The Holiday

Did you know? Kate Winslet had dated Rufus Sewell previously (they played Iris and Jasper)... awkward?

Four Christmases

Did you know? During the filming of the dinner sequence, Reese Witherspoon was hit in the face with a ceramic plate. She required five stitches.

White Christmas

Did you know? Fred Astaire was supposed to play Phil Davis - could you imagine that?!

Jingle All The Way

Did you know? Filmmakers were sued for plagiarism in a $19 million lawsuit.

The Muppet Christmas Carol

Did you know? It was the first Muppet film without Jim Henson, who died in 1990. :(

Deck The Halls

Did you know? Alternate titles for the film included "All Lit Up" and "Wreck the Halls".

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Did you know? The Grinch was black and white with pink eyes in the book, before the film changed it.

The Polar Express

Did you know? Tom Hanks played five different characters in the film.

The Santa Clause

Did you know? Eric Lloyd, who played Charlie, knocked out his front teeth on set and had to wear prosthetics during filming.

Mrs Miracle

Did You Know? Doris Roberts, who played Mrs Miracle, has appeared in more than one Christmas movie, including National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

Miracle On 34th Street

Did you know? Mara, who played Susan, was brought up not to believe in Santa anyway.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Did you know? Patrick Stewart was cut from the film.

The Nativity

Did you know? The film is mostly improvised.

The Nativity 2

Did you know? Starring David Tennant, the second film is mostly improvised too!


Did you know? The film features all four Murray brothers - Bill, Brian, John and Joel.

Meet Me In St Louis

Did you know? Judy Garland recorded The Trolley Song in a single take.

A Christmas Carol

Did you know? Disney's remake is based on the original novel by Charles Dickens - that he wrote in six weeks!

Home Alone

Did you know? Robert De Niro turned down the role of Harry Lime.

Home Alone 2

Did you know? The current POTUS Donald Trump makes a quick cameo.

The Snowman

Did you know? Other than the intro and the lyrics of the iconic 'Walking in the Air' song, there are no words spoken throughout the movie.


Did you know? Jim Carrey was initially eyed for Buddy the Elf.

It's A Wonderful Life

Did you know? The film was a flop at the cinema initially - leaving the director down over half a million pounds.
