Suspected 'stabbing' in Camelford

A woman has been taken to hospital after a suspected 'stabbing' in Camelford.

Police were called to Mount Camel in broad daylight to reports of an assault involving a knife.

A woman in her 30s suffered an injury to her abdomen on Sunday afternoon.

A police dog unit was called to the scene and found the suspect.

A 20-year-old local man has been arrested and remains in custody.

It is believed that the man and the woman know each other.

"Police were called at 1.45pm on Sunday 2nd December following reports that a woman had been assaulted with a weapon in Mount Camel, Camelford.

"It was further reported that a knife had been during the assault, causing injury to the woman's abdomen.

"The man and woman are believed to be known to each other.

"The woman in her 30s was taken to Treliske hospital for treatment.

"Officers including the dog unit carried out an area search for the man, who was located a short time later.

"A 20-year-old man from Camelford was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody at this time."
