Two girls from north Cornwall are feeling the Christmas spirit after having their meal paid for by a mystery stranger.

12-year-old Zara Greenaway Crowhurst was grabbing a bite with her cousin, Amie Cowling, at Route 39 in Wadebridge after a trip to the cinema.

Minutes after they were sat 'calculating and worrying' about whether they had enough money to pay for their meal, the bartender came over to tell them it had been taken care of already.

Two girls from north Cornwall have had their meal paid for by an anonymous stranger in a heartwarming Christmas gesture.

Zara told Pirate FM what happened:

"There was only one other family in the restaurant with us and I presume they overheard me and my cousin worrying about our money, after we had ordered our food and ate it.

"We saw the family leave and then the bartender came over and gave us the news that our meal had been paid for by a woman who was just there.

"We were so shocked, I felt like crying, it just brought me joy and made me and my cousin so happy.

"We wish we could thank whoever it was.

"It just reminded me that there are some people that do want to do good in this world and it's inspired me to do something good for other people".

The incident in Wadebridge has  inspired Zara and Amie to pay it forward - they just wish they could thank their mystery bill payer!

Zara regularly helps out her village at community events and says that this reminds her to keep doing so.

"I think it's fun to do stuff for the village as long as there are smiles then I'm happy".

She added that she loved this random act of kindness and that it just shows Cornwall's heart.

Zara's mum took to social media to thank the girls' anonymous bill payer and spread the Christmas love.

What a proud Cornish 'pay it forward' moment to begin the festive season.

Well done Cornwall!
