30,000 lights will be making the Bude Tunnel shine for Christmas.

A community project to put Christmas lights in Bude's public spaces sparked the idea to light up the plastic walkway as a festive surprise.

The interactive light display will change in time with festive music, sung by a school choir, at the official switch on at 4pm on Friday.

The supermarket walkway went viral after a string of TripAdvisor reviews made it Bude's number one tourist attraction.

Visitors will be able to take a selfie in front of a winter themed photo wall.

"It’s so random but makes so many people happy.

"This tunnel's more famous than most celebs now."

"People are saying they reckon it can be seen from space with all the lights on it.

Jack Taylor, Store Manager at Argos

“We’ve been overwhelmed with the positive response for the 'Bude Tunnel' and we’re delighted to be working with the community to give it all we’ve got and bring the people of Bude something magical this Christmas.

"It’ll be a shopping trip they’ll never forget.”

Stephen Gent, Store Manager at Sainsbury's Bude
