What better than a hot chocolate when the time comes for bracing walks along Cornwall's coast or to break up the Christmas shopping?

So, as we are wrapping up and thinking of fun things to do with the family, we thought we would round up some of the great places with a scrummy hot chocolate to warm you up!

1. Coffee on the Corner, Newquay

Check out this chocolate art. Who does not want a snowflake on their hot chocolate?

This little gem of a cafe makes for a cute and comfy rest stop if you are walking from Lusty across The Barrowfields and onto the other side of town.

It not only caters to vegans but also to those of us who like cream and all the trimmings with our hot chocolate.

And, there is always a dog treat available for our furry friends!

 2. The Beach Hut, Watergate Bay

This restaurant offers great views to enjoy your hot drink after walking from Porth to Watergate Bay.

Chocolate buttons, cream and marshamallows - yum and yes please!

3. Off Road Coffee, Cornwall

These guys are a little tricky to pin down because they pop up all over the Duchy.

You will often find them at Cornish events - just look for the land rover that is actually a coffee shop.

They make a habit of rocking up to well-travelled paths like The Camel Trail.

You can find out where they are likely to be next here.

The coffee is good, their cakes are even better and the hot chocolate is clearly tasty too!

4. Poldhu Cafe, The Lizard

This place is nestled into the sand dunes and is a great pit stop if you are rambling over to Poldhu cove from Mullion.

It offers a stunning view and a legendary hot chocolate surprise!

5. The Kitchen Side Bakery, Looe

If you are strolling round Looe, you may well stumble across this quirky bakery to warm your toes.

Their scones are delicious and the hot chocolate is a cherry, wintry treat!

6. Gylly Beach Cafe, Falmouth

Who does not appreciate panaoramic coastal views when drinking a warm drink on a cold day?

Overlooked by Pendennis Castle, this eatery also offers views of the Lizard Peninsula and The Helford River and they are open 364 days a year!

7.  Slice of Cornwall, Wendron

If the hot chocolate was terrible, we would still love Slice - if only for the incredibly, adorable mugs they come in!

Lucky for us the hot chocolate is just as delightful, if not more!

8. Brown Sugar, Fowey

Talk about a hot chocolate with all the trimmings - this is literally pudding in a cup!

And it comes complete with a picture perfect backdrop of Fowey Harbour!

9. Porthmeor Cafe, St Ives

Perfect if you are off to St Ives for the day, you can bundle yourselves into a little outdoor alcove and while away the hours sipping a hot chocolate and watching the waves.

Do not worry, they have got heat lamps and fluffy blankets to keep you toasty!

 10. Rosie's Kitchen, Bude

This is an American diner with Cornish charm.

It is perfect for a family day out not least of all for its extravagant hot chocolate but also for the play space it offers the kids.

But have you seen the size of their hot chocolate mountains of goodness?
