Flooding forces the Eden Project to close

Flooding forces the Eden Project to close

Published by Emma Carton at 11:25am 15th December 2018. (Updated at 4:34pm 15th December 2018)

The Eden Project has been closed for most of Saturday, due to flash flooding.

Bosses say there was a lot of water on site, after 'Storm Deirdre' swept Cornwall with torrential rain.

Eden was due to be shut to visitors until 2pm on Saturday but that was later extended until 5pm.

It will reopen for the evening Shadows and Light Christmas show but the ice rink will remain closed.

"Following the closure earlier today due to flood water, the Eden Project will re-open at 5pm today (Saturday December 15).

"The Shadows and Light Christmas experience is taking place around the site but not in the Core education building this evening. The ice rink will not be open this evening.

"The fully booked Father Christmas shows will be running from 5:30 onwards tonight. We plan to put on additional Father Christmas slots on Monday and Tuesday evening at 7.30pm. These need to be booked in advance and will be available on the website soon.

"Eden apologises to visitors who had planned to visit today for the inconvenience caused by the closure. Refunds or exchanges will be given to those who have booked and who were not able to attend.

"We expect to open tomorrow (Sunday 16 December). Please check our website and social media before setting off for the site and for updates".
