A Cornish primary school has been forced to close for the day after its heating oil was stolen.

St Day and Carharrack will not be open on Monday, because it now has no heating.

The evening Christmas performance has been postponed and staff are appealing for information.

"The oil has been stolen so we have no heating in the building and temperatures in the building are at 12 degrees and below.

"If you have any information please inform the police/school.

"We hope to be open on Tuesday but please check the school website for updates and wear warm layers.

"Unfortunately the evening performance at 6pm is postponed".

Headteacher, Susannah Storey

She added that the Key Stage 2 production at 1.30pm will still go ahead, meeting at the church for 1.15pm.
