Body discovered on quiet Cornwall beach

Police say the family of a missing woman have been told about a body found on a Cornish beach.

The discovery was made just before 11am on Saturday, at Polridmouth Cove near Fowey.

Officers say formal identification has not been carried out yet, but Joanna Aplin's next of kin are aware.

The 61-year-old, from Cadgwith in west Cornwall, has not been seen since the morning of 5th December.

"Police were called at 10.45am on Saturday 15 December following reports of a body being located on the beach near Fowey.

"The body was located near Polridmouth and recovered.

"Whilst formal identification is yet to take place, the family of missing woman, Joanna Aplin, have been information of this development".
