Over 300 shoeboxes donated to Christmas appeal

Over 300 shoeboxes have been collected for the appeal to give every family in Newquay a present this Christmas.

Donations have been flooding in for DISC Newquay and the foodbank as part of its festive appeal.

The packages have been handed out through December - to vulnerable families and people facing homelessness.

Now organisers have thanked the local community for their generosity.

"A little two or three-year-old who sits under the tree and there is nothing there, it is just heart-breaking.

"This will make a massive difference, and people worried about getting into debt for Christmas will know there is a little present there.

"To think that there are children out there who are not getting a present, that is just not right, so that is why I thought about the boxes to put under the tree so they also have a present."
