A New Year's Day meal is being provided for vulnerable people in Newquay.

DISC is hosting an event for people in need in the local community.

A three course meal will be provided at the Church Hall at St. Michael.s Church on the 1st January.

The Drop In and Share Centre has joined forces with Snak, Soulfood and Little Sparrows to host the event - between 3pm until 7pm.

"This is a community lunch for all the vulnerable in our community so please do come along and have some fun and a meal cooked with love by us all."

Monique Collins, manager

The three course meal will include:

  • Starter: Soup a la Snak
  • Main: Vegetarian option a la Soulfood or Meat option a la DISC
  • Dessert: Pudding a la Little Sparrows

It comes after 300 shoeboxes were collected for an appeal to give every family in Newquay a present this Christmas.

Donations came flooding in for DISC Newquay and the foodbank as part of its festive appeal.

The packages were handed out through December - to vulnerable families and people facing homelessness.

"We are walking into an even bigger and brighter future for DISC come January!

"We are here for any one that is homeless or struggling and or vulnerable!

"If you need help please come and speak to us as that’s what we now stand for!"

Monique Collins, manager
