Christmas crash leaves a pregnant woman injured

Police are appealing for dashcam footage after a Christmas Eve crash in Falmouth that left a pregnant woman trapped.

The casualty was rushed to hospital with suspected serious injuries, but luckily she was released the next day.

Officers say two cars hit head-on on Melvill Road and two men in one of the vehicles, a BMW, fled the scene.

A 20-year-old man from Truro was later arrested but has since been released under investigation.

Anyone who saw something just before 6pm on Monday 24th December is being urged to come forward.

"The driver of the Golf, a 31-year-old pregnant woman, was trapped in her vehicle and her husband and young son also sustained minor injuries.

"At the time it was feared that the she had sustained serious injuries. Thankfully that was not the case and after a night in hospital under precautionary observations, she was released and as is now at home with her family recovering.

"A 20-year-old man from Truro was later arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

"We have already identified a number of witnesses, however, if anyone who has any information and was in the area from 5:30-6pm on Christmas Eve and has yet to speak to us, we would like to hear from you".
