Morning after drink-drive warning for Cornwall

Morning after drink-drive warning for Cornwall

Published by Emma Carton at 7:56am 1st January 2019.

As the New Year's Eve recovery gets underway, police in Cornwall and Devon have shared a guide on how long it takes for alcohol to clear the system.

This example might just surprise you! You need to wait at least 14 hours to get behind the wheel after four large glasses of wine.

It comes as figures show around 1700 people are caught over the limit in our region every year.

If you had a few too many last night, check this chart before you head out in the car.

"It can have grave consequences. The simple fact is it ruins lives.

"We do unfortunately get some really serious collisions that involve drink drivers. These are the ones that affect the individual, that affect loved ones, family and other people on the roads and it can have a lifetime impact.

"If you think there's any way, shape or form that you might still have alcohol in your body, don't take the risk. Get a taxi or a lift or try to plan things better.

"It could have grave consequences for you, for other people or other loved ones and possibly your job if you need your driving licence for your job".
