Drivers are being warned to expect delays because of a gas leak on one of the main roads into Truro.

Wales and West Utilities thinks the work to fix a leaking pipe on Tresawls Road will last until Saturday afternoon.

The westbound lane on the stretch near the hospital roundabout will be closed from Friday.

Traffic lights will be in place at the junction for the lane leading to Highertown, as well as a diversion route.

"We will be working in the Tresawls Road area of Truro tomorrow (11th January) to repair a leak on a gas pipe running beneath the road.

"In agreement with Cornwall Council and to keep the local community, road users and our colleagues safe while we work, we will need to close the westbound lane along Tresawls Road.

"Traffic lights will be in place at the junction with Penventinnie Lane leading to Highertown and a diversion route will be clearly signposted.

"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we expect to fix the leak and fully reopen Tresawls Road by Saturday afternoon (12 January).

"As this essential work is likely to cause some disruption, we would kindly advise road users to plan ahead and use alternative routes if possible.

"We appreciate that working on roads such as this is not ideal, but it is important that we fix this leak now, in order to continue to provide a safe and reliable supply of gas to homes and businesses".
