A letter from the frontman of Foo Fighters to Cornwall Council has resurfaced and it is going viral.

Dave Grohl wrote to officials when a young local band were struggling to practise amid noise complaints.

The singer expressed support for Black Leaves of Envy, saying that, like many musicians, he started in his garage.

The two-year-old letter was shared by Letters of Note on the singer's 50th birthday and has since had thousands of retweets.

Cornwall Council tweeted to say they thought the letter might resurface, insisting they had to investigate.

The authority's response was quite tongue-in-cheek, quoting a few Foos songs on the way!

"We knew it was only A Matter of Time until Dave Grohl's letter resurfaced.

"We didn't want throw a Monkey Wrench into a local band's practice plans, but we'd heard from neighbours that the noise was making them pretty Low.

"At Times Like These we have to investigate any complaints we receive in order to Resolve the issue - and that's exactly what we did.

"We were in contact with the Cornish band, Black Leaves of Envy, several times, offering them alternative rehearsal and soundproofing from a professional company.

"No formal action was taken and we've not had any complaints since".
