Air ambulance scrambled to crash in Newquay

A man who suffered serious injuries after a crash on a main road in Newquay has died.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Henver Road, which was closed in both directions.

Police say a car collided with railings and the air ambulance was scrambled on Thursday afternoon.

The collision happened on Thursday afternoon, sparking delays on the A3058 across rush hour.

"Police were called at around 4:15pm following reports of a Kia having collided with the railings on Henver Road, Newquay.

"Air ambulance is in attendance as well as police.

The male driver is believed to have sustained serious injuries and is still being treated at the scene.

"Road users are advised to avoid the area for the foreseeable future."

Devon and Cornwall Police

"A3058 Henver Road in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to serious accident between Arundel Way and B3276 Porth Way.

"A full closure is now in place following an accident on the double roundabout.

"Air ambulance is currently in attendance, and the closure is expected to remain in place for some time."

The road was reopened just after 7pm on Thursday.
