Reports of woman with a handgun in Truro

Armed police were called to Truro amid reports of a woman with a handgun.

Officers got the shout to Lemon Street Market - near the toilets.

A number of people in the area were searched on Thursday afternoon but no weapon was found.

Police say there were no other reports and the matter has now been closed.

"Police were called a 3:05pm with a reported sighting of a female in possession of a handgun, near the toilets on Lemon Street Market, in Truro.

"Armed officers and local units attended and a area search was undertaken.

"A number of people were searched but at this time no weapon has been found, and nor has there been any other reports of a weapon in the area.

"Armed units have since stood down, and the matter is now closed."
