Parked cars stop firefighters going down Cornish street

Cornwall's firefighters have issued yet another warning about parked cars.

Crews found a road blocked on their way to carry out home safety checks in Liskeard.

They could not get through and say, in an emergency, this could have put lives at risk.

Sadly, this is not the first time the Duchy's emergency services have found themselves in this situation.

Firefighters have issued a warning after parked cars stopped them from getting down a street in Liskeard, Cornwall

"Today we tried (unsuccessfully) to drive up Varley Lane to carry out some home fire safety checks for residents in Melbourne Road area.

"The fire engine was prevented from reaching it due to cars being parked too far out from the kerb making the road too narrow for us to pass.

"Can we ask everyone, irrespective of where you live, to park your car with a suitable space for a fire engine to pass.

"In an emergency situation this can slow or possibly prevent our attendance, putting lives at risk. Safe park!"
