Police seize £2000 worth of heroin in Newquay

Published by the Pirate FM News Team at 9:24am 25th January 2019. (Updated at 5:49pm 25th January 2019)

Around £2000 worth of Class-A drugs, believed to be heroin, has been seized in Newquay.

Police also took mobile phones, £1000 in cash and a vehicle after the raid on Higher Tower Road.

Officers found five men from up country who they suspected to be County Lines drug dealers.

However, no arrests have been made and Devon and Cornwall Police say enquiries are ongoing.

"Over the past 18 months there has been a significant increase in the supply and use of Class-A drugs in Newquay.

"County Lines drug supply networks are believed to be responsible for this increase in Class-A drugs.

"Due to the impact of heroin and crack on our community, one of our priorities is the disruption of County Lines networks.

"We always take robust action against anybody who is suspected of involvement in the supply of controlled drugs.

"Today's action demonstrates our commitment to tackling County Lines networks and I am delighted a consignment of heroin was been taken off the towns streets".

Inspector Dave Meredith

Information can be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
