Cornish dad fights to clean up our beaches

A dad from Cornwall has told Pirate FM how he is giving up his spare time to try and clear our beaches of litter.

Andrew Frost from Bodmin goes surfing and fishing on the north and south coast.

But he says the smaller beaches have recently been covered in plastics and rubbish.

He has found things like toys, toothbrushes and cables ties scattered from Port Isaac to Polkerris.

Now he is campaigning to help reduce litter on the Duchy's beaches and raise awareness of the issue

"I've done all sorts, Lantic Bay, Lansallos, Polkerris to Gribbin Head, New Polzeath, Lundy Bay, Port Isaac, Port Quinn.

"Lantic Bay was the worst I'd ever seen a few days ago, it was an eye opener, I came back with sack fills.

"And that was one person for a few hours, there was probably the same again.

"You name it it's there, I've found shotgun shells, children's toys, toothbrushes, scrubbing brushes, straws, forks, fishing stuff, cable ties.

"I want to pick up as much as I can before it goes back out into the sea.

"It's a lot worse than I thought, my kids are going to be lying and swimming in this in the summer.

"I'm going to continue to collect as much as I can, it's horrendous out there.

"I'm trying to do my bit, and it's going to be a mission, and one person is not going to do it alone that's for sure".
