This is the moment Gilmore the dog was saved by one of Cornwall's amazing lifeboat crews.

The St Ives' team were scrambled to reports a springer spaniel had fallen down rocks between Man's Head and Clodgy Point.

The in-shore lifeboat quickly launched, with a voluntary crew of four, to attend the scene.

"The conditions were OK, but there was a 3ft swell and waves around 4-5ft.

"But once we arrived at the location we were pleased to see that Gilmore, the Springer Spaniel, had managed to make his way onto the small portion of beach.

"His owners had done the right thing by alerting the right authorities to ensure we could respond safely".

The St Ives lifeboat was called to reports of a dog having fallen down rocks and managed to pluck Gilmore to safety

Two crew remained with the lifeboat to ensure it remained in the right location and two crew got out of the boat and made their way to Gilmore.

The crew were able to secure Gilmore and carried him to the lifeboat where he was quickly returned to St Ives Lifeboat station.

Gilmore was then reunited with his delighted owners and transferred quickly to the vets where he received a full check over.  He's now back home safe and well.
