Cattle trailer overturns on A390 in Cornwall

A driver has been taken to hospital after a cattle trailer overturned in Cornwall.

Emergency services were called to the A390 just after 9am on Thursday morning.

The vehicle was on its side between Callington and Liskeard.

The driver in his sixties was trapped but has since been freed.

He has been taken to Derriford but is not thought to be seriously hurt.

Four cows escaped and have not yet been found.

"One driver (in his 60's) was trapped in the vehicle pulling the trailer which was on its side.

"He has since been freed and taken to Derriford hospital but injuries are not through to be serious.

"Four cows were in the trailer, all have escaped and yet to have been located.

"Closures remain in place and the clear-up is yet to have taken place."

Devon and Cornwall Police

"A390 in both directions closed due to serious accident, a cattle trailer involved between Liskeard Road (Callington) and Callington Road (Liskeard).

"Traffic is coping well. 

"The accident happened around 09:10 and is affecting traffic between Liskeard and Callington.

"Police confirmed they have now closed the entire road from Liskeard to Callington.

"Diversion - via the A38 and A388."
