Woman has 'life-changing' injuries after crash

A woman has been left with life-changing leg injuries after a crash in east Cornwall.

A smart car and a delivery van collided on the A388 near Kelly Bray on Monday evening.

A 65-year-old woman from Launceston was trapped in the car and had to be cut free.

She was rushed to Derriford hospital where she remains.

The van driver wasn't hurt and the road was closed for around five hours while investigators went over the scene.

Anyone who might have dashcam footage is being asked to contact police.

"Police were called just before 7pm with reports of a serious collision between a delivery van and a Smart Car on the A388 outside of Camelot Kennels, Kelly Bray.

"The driver of the Smart Car, a 65-year-old woman from Launceston was trapped in her vehicle following the collision and sustained leg injuries currently described as life-changing.

"The driver of the van was unharmed.

"She was taken to Derriford Hospital where she remains.

"The road was closed until around midnight whilst serious collisions investigators worked at the scene.

"Enquiries continue and police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage that could assist with the investigation."
