Dozens of local companies, tradespeople and volunteers have helped out with the project at Carbis Bay.

Star Nick Knowles has described the community spirit in the Duchy as absolutely amazing.

The Smedleys were shown the transformation for the first time on Thursday morning and ended up in tears.

The Smedleys' Story

Over 15 years, Lynn and Stephen Smedley have fostered 103 children, from premature babies with cerebal palsy to teenage mothers.

They were about to retire when tragically, their 32-year-old daughter Carrie died unexpectedly.

Since Carrie's death in 2017, Lynn and Stephen have been caring for their three grandchildren in their small bungalow in Carbis Bay.

Space is so limited, brothers Ruben, Jaden and Uche have been sharing a triple bunk bed in one room.

There is only one bathroom and Lynn has even been forced to do the washing and ironing in the shed.

To make a heartbreaking situation worse, Stephen was made redundant shortly after his daughter's death and is at risk of a heart attack.

The couple needed their home completely transformed to make it big enough for them and the boys' new life together.

That is where the BBC's DIY SOS: The Big Build team, and the Cornish community, have come into their own!

Pirate FM is not allowed to reveal photos from inside the build until the episode is shown on TV, which is expected to be later this year.

However you can hear Lynn's emotional interview with Pirate FM's Lucy Start below.

The 'Oggy Oggy Oggy' interruption at the end is an indication of how many people turned out to watch the extra-special reveal!
