Newlyn fire: Four people are taken to hospital

It has been confirmed that four people were taken to hospital after a massive fire at a pub in Newlyn.

Emergency services say they were treated for breathing in smoke after the blaze at The Fisherman's Arms.

Flames through the roof of the inn in the early hours of Monday, spreading downstairs.

The fire broke out at around 1am and police have confirmed several nearby properties were evacuated.

Firefighters from St Just, Penzance, St Ives, Hayle, Tolvaddon, Truro and Helston were scrambled.

Diversions are in place, with a stretch of Fore Street expected to be closed for most of the morning.

"Emergency services were called at 1am today following reports of a fire at a property on Fore Street, Newlyn.

"A number of nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution.

"Highways have closed Fore Street and a diversion is in place at Newlyn and Mousehole".
