Coastguards have revealed they spotted another dog off its lead just minutes after a major rescue on the Cornish coast.

Issey the springer-doodle was winched to safety after falling down the 80ft Trevone Round Hole near Padstow.

Crews say she was taken to vets to be checked over, but seemed to have escaped with superficial injuries.

Padstow Coastguard shared a warning on their social media pages, urging owners to keep pets on leads.

"Within five minutes of recovering Issey, the team spotted another dog running free at the top of the round hole.

"Safety advice was given to this animal’s owners and we received the traditional response that they trust their dog.

"Several team members are dog owners and regularly walk their animals on the coast path.

"Though we trust our dogs, we don’t trust them enough to risk their lives and the happiness of our families for the sake of applying a lead".
