The RNLI has issued a warning about so-called storm selfies as the tail end of Storm Gareth hits Cornwall.

65mph gusts downed trees, sparked closures on the Tamar Bridge and whipped up huge waves on Tuesday.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for winds, which remains in force until 3pm on Wednesday.

Locals and visitors, hoping to get a good photograph, are being urged not to get too close to the coast.

"With bringing strong winds and heavy rain, make sure you remain safe around the coast.

"Keep away from exposed areas and avoid heading out on the water.

"Remember to call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard if you or someone else gets into trouble".
