Death of woman in Truro - treated as unexplained

Police are treating the death of a woman whose body was found on a Cornish river bank as unexplained.

Part of Garras Wharf in Truro was cordoned off for most of Friday, after the discovery first thing.

Paramedics carried out CPR at the scene but the casualty was pronounced dead in hospital.

Helicopters and Coastguard crews were drafted in to carry out searches of the river bank.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed her family has been told and are appealing for clues.

"At 10:00 hours on Friday 15th March a female was found deceased in Truro Cornwall, the death is being treated as unexplained at this time and enquiries are continuing.

"The family of the deceased have been informed but the name of the deceased will not be released until a formal identification process has been conducted.

"Police are appealing for any person who witnessed or heard anything suspicious between 18.00 hours on Thursday 14th March and 10.00 hours on Friday 15th March 2019 in the area of the Malpas river bank near Tesco, Truro, to contact the police on 101 quoting Log number 239 15/03/2019".
