Serious crash closes A390 in both directions

Police have confirmed a crash which closed the main road between Truro and St Austell was fatal.

Two cars were caught in the collision on the A390 on Saturday evening.

One vehicle is believed to have come off the road and hit a hedge at St Mewan.

A young man has died and another casualty was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

Diversions have been put in place and the road is reportedly expected to remain closed for some time.

Local bus services have been affected and delays are being reported on the diversion route through Sticker.

"The A390, in both directions, isclosed due to an accident from the B3273 Pentewan Road (St Austell) to the Hewas Water turn-off (Hewas Water).

"The road remains closed since around 18:15 following a collision which has occurred.

"Police are on the scene.

"Diversion - via Rose Hill through the village of Sticker".
