Young man dies following serious A390 crash

Police have confirmed a young man has died after a serious crash near St Austell.

The 26-year-old lost his life after two cars collided on the A390 at St Mewan and his family has been told.

The vehicles involved were a Mazda and a Jaguar, that reportedly came off the road and hit a hedge.

It happened just after 5.30pm on Saturday and another casualty was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

The collision happened early on Saturday evening, closing the road until the early hours of Sunday.

"Police were called at 5.30pm this evening after reports of a collision involving two vehicles on the A390.

"This was in the vicinity of St Mewan.

"We have got Serious Collisions Investigators at the scene and the road is currently closed at this time while we carry out this investigation".

Officers are urging anyone who might have seen something to contact police on 101, quoting log 655 of 16th March.
