Police have tweeted a weather warning to drivers as flash hail storms hit Cornwall.

There have been a string of crashes on the A30, including a multi-vehicle collision near Launceston.

Separate collisions sparked lane closures at Trewint and between Lanivet and Indian Queens.

On the A30, Inrix Traffic and Travel has warned of hail and surface water from Bodmin to the border.

"Appliances from Launceston and Bodmin attended a call to a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A30 near to Trewint, Launceston.

"On crews arrival there were five vehicles in three separate locations which had been involved in incidents.

"The incident was caused by impacted hail on the road.

"Firefighters assisted ambulance and police staff on scene".

"The road was closed while emergency services worked to free a person trapped in their vehicle although it reopened at around 12:50.

"The vehicle has not yet been recovered but traffic can now flow past the scene".
