Man hurt after fire and "explosion" in St Ives

A man has been taken to hospital after a fire in St Ives.

Crews were scrambled to reports of a shed explosion on Trerice Place.

They managed to stop it spreading to a house in the early hours of Sunday.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed a casualty was suffering from chest pains.

"Two appliances attended this incident from St Ives Community Fire Station.

"On arrival crews found one outbuilding well alight.

"They used four breathing apparatus, two hose-reels and two main jets to extinguish the fire.

"An ambulance was requested for one male casualty suffering with chest pain who was then transferred to hospital.

"The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and spread".
